The loop trail connecting the locality of Croci to Canfittori, in the territory of Massa e Cozzile, offers hikers a pleasant immersion in the woods, punctuated by panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. This easy route, which crosses the picturesque Barano Bridge, winds near the ruins of the Verruca Castle, once an important settlement, now marked only by a solitary cross.

Itinerary

The circular route starts from Croci, where you can easily pick up trail CAI 242 on the right. The path begins through a landscape rich in vegetation, mostly chestnut, acacia, and pine trees, with gentle ups and downs. After a few dozen meters, you can glimpse the hill of Verruca (525 m) to the left. The trail crosses several fords over the Borra stream and passes a cheerful waterfall before reaching Canfittori. Continuing on, the route passes the higher area of Marliana, known as Alteto. From there, trail 242 leads back into the woods, beginning a gradual descent that returns to the starting point in Croci.
