From the town of Pescia, an ancient medieval stone path pleasantly leads us to the old village of Collodi, forever linked to the figure of Pinocchio, the character created by writer Carlo Lorenzini, a native of the area. Walking along the Via della Fiaba, we will explore the Park, reliving the adventures of the wooden puppet through works by great 20th-century artists. We will continue exploring the Historic Garzoni Garden, with its terraces, staircases, statues, and fountains, until reaching the Butterfly House, home to hundreds of butterflies native to tropical and equatorial regions.

Itineray

Starting from the San Michele monastic complex in Pescia, we walk westward along CAI Trail 251, which is also part of the San Jacopo Way. Shortly after, the paved road turns into a dirt track on Via della Fiaba, where we walk on a beautiful stone pavement surrounded by olive groves. Upon arrival in Collodi, a visit to the Pinocchio Park complex is a must. Resuming CAI Trail 251, the path climbs up the slopes of Monte Verruca. At the Meggio Fountain, turn east, passing through Monte a Pescia, Barignano, and Cafaggio. In a short time, we return to Pescia to complete the hiking loop.
