SUMMARY:Joan Miró in Montecatini Terme
DESCRIPTION:The Galleria Civica Mo.C.A. – Montecatini Contemporary Art has housed Dona Voltada d’un Vol d’Ocells in its permanent collection since its opening in 2012. This piece is one of the five largest works in the world created by the painter Joan Miró. \nFrom December 4\, 2024\, to June 29\, 2025\, the gallery pays tribute to the master with the exhibition Joan Miró in Montecatini Terme. \nThe exhibition tells the fascinating story behind the creation of this artwork\, specifically conceived for the city of Montecatini in 1980 as part of Maggio Miró\, the largest cultural event ever organized in Montecatini\, envisioned by Carlos Franqui. \nThe exhibition delves into these events\, which involved numerous international artists who created works inspired by the figure and legacy of the great surrealist. It also reveals why Miró\, the eagerly anticipated guest of honor\, was never able to visit the city. \nThe show features works by painters from around the world\, alongside a selection of Miró’s lithographs\, autographed documents by the Master\, photographs\, posters\, and other unpublished material made available by private collectors and the heirs of those who participated in the event. \nThe exhibition also offers an opportunity to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the presence of Miró’s Woman (Dona Voltada d’un Vol d’Ocells) in Montecatini. \nClick here for the flyer.\nFree entry. \nOpening Hours\nTue–Fri: 10 AM–12 PM\nSat\, Sun\, and holidays: 10:30 AM–12:30 PM and 3:30 PM–6:30 PM\nClosed on Mondays \nInfo\nGalleria Civica Mo.C.A. – Montecatini Contemporary Art

SUMMARY:Two Centuries of Drawing
DESCRIPTION:From Saturday\, February 8\, to Monday\, June 2\, 2025\, the Gipsoteca Libero Andreotti hosts the exhibition Two Centuries of Drawing. Works from the Civic Collections of Pescia\, with scientific curation by Claudia Massi and Livia Fasolo. The exhibition and related initiatives are organized by the Pistoia Museum System – SIMUP. \nThe exhibition showcases recently rediscovered drawings\, offering an overview of the art of drawing through the works of four artists born in Pescia: Alberico Carlini (1703–1777)\, Innocenzo Ansaldi (1734–1816)\, Luigi Norfini (1825–1909)\, and Libero Andreotti (1875–1933). \nTrained in Italy and abroad (Andreotti)\, these artists left a significant artistic legacy in their hometown\, preserved in albums\, sheets\, and drawings of great value. Pescia’s collections offer unique testimonies\, particularly for Carlini and Ansaldi\, while providing the most extensive holdings of works by Norfini and Andreotti. \nThe exhibition includes preparatory studies and independent works by Andreotti and stems from the research of Simona Lunatici\, who cataloged over a thousand of his drawings and other works from the Civic Museum\, soon to be included in the general catalog of cultural heritage. \nClick here for the brochure. \nThe exhibition and its initiatives are supported by the Tuscany Region as part of the 2024 Museum Systems grant. \nOpening Hours\nTuesday & Thursday: 10 AM – 12.30 PM / 3 PM – 5.30 PM\nSaturday & Sunday: 3.30 PM – 6.30 PM \nInfo\nCittà di Pescia\ncultura@comune.pescia.pt.it \nPhoto credit: Mennonna
